what is progress?

i’ve made some progress on packaging. i think Tahiti, he of amazing cut out art and woefully underappreciated tunes should do this. I had all these ideas of intricate psychedelic spiralling interwoven glory with a screen printed spectrum of colour and i ended up with a white stripe. brilliant. But anyway, one step closer to something fully realised. who wants one?

Still snowing here. maybe we need a move to the desert full time. The lightning freaks the animals.

Could this be magic?

Our first show was on saturday at the very red Magic Theatre accompanied by low light, some fine looking peoples and a little courage. Afterwards there was a showing of Bowie, Dolls, Roxy and T-Rex videos. A tough act to open for but we did alright. A few pictures shot from Ski’s steady camera hand:

Deep

It’s been snowing here. Deeper and deeper. We’ve been stoking the fire, making nachos and playing in the freezing Orderly Manor. Must fix that door. A trip to Portland played host to the fine wedding of true Queen & King Allie & Barry, some overindulgence, wheezing, great breakfast and a large loud jam with the dudes Jef, Barr and Dev. Much needed rock outlet.

Allie & Barry

Seek & Destroy

We’ve been playing our songs in the afformentioned Manor with a view to some neat and tidy duo shows (Wurlitzer electric piano and acoustic guitar – thanks Noah, on both counts) and then some messy space out shows with full lineup and equipment and things. Work begins on that sound today with these peoples: Ben on drums, Dana Gumbiner Bass Attack! on bass/vocals and Lee Bob on assorted guitars/organs/vocals. I can’t wait. There’s a show or two awaiting this month. More later. I really must get some packaging done. Where’s Tahiti? Can anyone tune a Wurlitzer?

Last night we visited Adam and his band Golden Shoulders playing a hot rock show at St. Joseph’s. Jason farted in the mic, there’s a lengthy monologue and there were teenagers dancing. When we got out someone had kicked our mirror off our car. To help us find shattered pieces Lee put his car in position to shine headlights and promptly locked his keys inside. With the lights on. Hour and a half later a cop fails to open the lock. Adam, who just got done sweeping the floor, appears and his mirror is also gone. But he has AAA – i call and pretend to be him while he runs to get food. Another hour listening to Donnelly’s new material in our car and a guy in a baseball hat with a big tow truck uses his super bendy arm thing in conjunction with a blood-pressure pump thing to unlock the door and start the dead car. Lee pretends to be Adam and the night is almost complete aside from a little Bushmills and discovering that Prince is 48 and that some teenagers have not heard of him and think he might be gay.

The sun just came out.

i saw…

something. stereolab at the Fillmore last night. like little children we waited for the mass drone of vintage organ buzz. i came to us in the end.

i just found this in my computer bin. i need to finish it.

Snow

this has nothing to do with music. i’ll get it back on track. there’s this organ that i have my eyes on. if it happens it could be cool…

Cat out of bag

So i think we have it. The mastered versions have now settled and i think its time to leave them alone and let em fly their own way. This means that the mp3s on this very site and on the dread myspace are the real deal. Or at least as close as you can get with mp3 compression. So go ahead and download away. In the meantime i’ll get a plan together to make the record available for buying with money. if you like it. if you want it.

Last night was partay at the Goods pad. Adam of Adam Kline fame rolled another year and we all got drunk (except for him of course) and listened to some fine 45s and personal stories. He’s now older so you should check out his lovely new recordings here.
