just back from a days recording at Brighton sound with Lee Bob, Marc, Dana and us lot. we did a cool cool motowny tune with Lee involving some ridiculous jamming and a wild straight through double take. Dirty stuff. dirty. then a quick run through 3 of our tunes – ‘Slow Motion’, and two new ones – ‘What’s in Mind’ we’ve been playing at shows and a brand new one that seems to get somewhere we haven’t been before. Its as yet untitled but it has been known as ‘dry the piggies’ or something… it features heavy handed delay, wandering harmonies and the most glorious beats and basses. wait, i noted stuff about this the other night… anyway, its a good way to spend time. in a hot sweaty room playing music with the finest peoples, a giant illuminated snowman and a bag of cheap beer. these recordings have been going on the last two weeks in preparation for a compilation by Marc new label – Grass Roots Record Co.; the basic idea was to get everyone he knew to play a song live straight to tape and showcase the local sound. i like that idea. I like playing and taking the first takes and not worrying about details. and the free beer was good too… all the while Biff Rose and the Moores were holding court in the control room. dig it.
