Orderly Manor

16. December 2005 Recording 2

Dana Gumbiner at the helm, sir.

A mobile session from Dana meant we were recording at Orderly Manor yesterday. He came to the cave armed with some fancy equipment, nice microphones and the usual calm disposition. Today was a mildly distracted day, Mr. Mark Snegg dropped in with carrots, parental interaction was on, and the home itself can sometimes be a distraction of sorts – but it is a very relaxed environment in which to be recording… it’s good to hear new sounds emerging from this place – aside from my own demo tinkerings its been since the infamous final sessions with The Pleased. We had a visit from (expert) Lee who finds it enormously enjoyable to make peoples jaws drop with the effortless manner in which he lifts songs. Anytime Lee get’s down to business he raises the bar. The boy got soul. Dig it. Today he was the master of single note psycehedelic Vox organ parts. Little buzzing bees of melody. alright.

As the sun set behind the drafty window of the manor “control room” we moved to vocals once again. Out came the —–(dana?) mic which has become a essential part of our sound; every voice has it match and this one is mine. Into Black now has a complete vocal. This means we are all done tracking lead vocals. Cause for celebration… but no time – we move rapidly to backing vocals for Fire Escape, Heads or Tails and Coming Apart. That reminds me; here’s the list as it stands:

The Dream Ends in Fury 2:59
Colder 4:12
Sign of Life 2:45
Hearts Ease 3:34
Kings Theme 4:48
Into Black 3:40
Slow Motion 3:27
Coming Apart 3:24
Confessed Again 3:22
Fire Escape 4:29
All in Favour 3:42
Heads or Tails 3:42
Desert Heights 3:37

So that about wraps it for today, and this year in terms of recording – i have a few finishing touches to do but we are close, so close. Just check out the glee below. Time to start writing more stuff.

I think you guys should just come live with us. Yes, that is the best plan. Er, oh no, wait, I like your place! It’s bigger and woodsier! Ok, so we’re coming to live with you. Awesome!
