Day 35: Columbus, OH
Its late and the bus is rolling gently away from Columbus, OH en route to Pontiac, MI; the last of the US dates. Tonight was ridiculously loud but a ton of fun for me; everything went smooth and the stage was a good little intimate theatre stage. Usually carpet is not so good but the shoes like it tonight. Richard rocked them despite the illness. Ah, the illness. We’re all frantically taking copious amounts of vitamin c and kombucha right now. Tim and Richard both had the 30 hour cold. But as long R made it through we’re probably good – the rest of us can play instruments despite a flu.
I was filming video clips all day today. 84 in total. ‘A day in the life’ will happen. Including the legendary ghost of Musk-rat in the graveyard.
Camaraderie between bands is at an all time high right now. We’ve been through a lot together and the end is so near i think we’re all feeling the apprehension that goes with that. Islands and the Mondays have been amazing as tour partners.
Wilco were in town today. I saw John Stirrat in the street earlier and thought it was just a lookalike. Only learned they were here later. Bastards probably took half our audience. We had a rowdy lot tonight still.
I have headache and its time for bed.
This was the best concert I have ever seen. I knew every song other than maybe one … and they were all done very well. I can’t believe RB was sick through this. I could not tell.
Forward my info to Mars if he wants to know more about the wind controllers (no I don’t work for Yamaha). 🙂 He and I were talking a little out back after the show.
Here is something I did using mine a while back. I don’t play sax, not really, so hopefully some aspect of this track is excused. 🙂

And since you are a fellow guitar player, I won’t leave you out …

Your blog says you’re having trouble figuring out pedals. (I can help with that.) That thick tone in this track is from a Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz but you won’t get it to sound like that, I have a special patch I made using a Line6 PodXT.
Thanks for an absolutely fantastic concert. Best ever for me … honestly. I have waited 25 years to see the Furs and you guys exceeded my expectations without question.
