Day Fifteen: Birmingham

27. October 2010 Touring 0

Awaken in Birmingham. Leave the bus, get away from some nasty eBayers (“Hey Tim!, to me, Mars and Paul”) and check the empty venue – nice place… Lots of time to waste today so explore the central area of Birmingham pretty extensively – can’t believe i’ve not seen Manchester or Birmingham before – and how nice they both are. Same kind of red brick thing in Birmingham but some ultra modern architecture in the form of the dalek-blob ‘Bullring’ and an old 1800s church right next door. Kind of cool juxtaposition really… Wagamama for lunch – never disappoints.

Get a few minutes but not nearly enough with our old buddies from the Monday’s crew; Naim and Gaz – the best lads! More next time dudes…

Tonights show is great. Happy people. Happy Furs. These two amps are sounding great; wish i had them for the whole tour. The venue turns in to some sort of Halloween disco thing afterwards and I end up hanging out the back with the HMV guy who’s telling me stories of meeting Michael Jackson, an Airstream and a load of face-painted girls, freezing with their legs out… Its a classic brit scene. Very soon we’re on the road again… out to London. Hello home.
